Hi, I am thinking of getting a new mobile phone with the talks software on it. I have never used talks before. My other phone was from the rnib. Which phone do you think is best with the talks on it? And do you need to by a phone first then put the software on it? Thanks Michelle
Hi.
Yes you have to buy the phone first then take the phone to a talks dealer and they will install talks on it. I think some of the talks dealers also sell mobile phones so you will get your phone with talks already on it.
Now the question about which phone works better is difficult to answer. Each person likes a different phone for a variaty of reasons. But if you want you can visit the talks website to see a list of phones at www.nuance.com/talks.
In my oppinion the list of phones page is not well written. There are descriptions of the phones but not what we would want to know. For example they say things like how many cameras the phone has and how is the display of the phone etc.
In my oppinion it should say first of all a keybad layoud of each phone. Like where is each key and how bigg are the keys and if they are easy rekognised. Some phones have got small keys or they might be layed out in different order than what we are used to.
I personally have got the nokia 6630 and i am very happy with it. Talks works very well on it and it doesn't crash often. The keys are bigg enough for me and i can rekognise them easily. Also most of my friends in Cyprus got the n70 and they are also happy with it. The keys on the n70 are a bit smaller but with some practice you can learn them.
My girlfriend now has got a 6630 like me but before she had a 6680 but the volume when speaking in the normal mode of the phone not the loud speaker was very quiet.
She also tried the 6260 which is a very nice looking phone and it is a flip and twisted phone but sometimes the phone refuced to swich on for a strange reason. Maybe it was something wrong with that particular phone. The keys on that phone are nice in my oppinion and easy to find.
Anyway i wrote a lot. Good luck and i hope you buy a phone that you will enjoy.
Thanks, I have got a couple of phones in mind, Nokia 6600, Nokia Ngadg and Nokia 9210. I just cant find the price of the phones.
the ngage is a crap phone and is no longer produced as far as I know. the 9210 is no longer produced either, though you might find these two phones on the internet, though you won't find them in shops.
One of my friends has got the 6600 and it is not a very good phone. It is slow and it hasn't got a lot of phone memory. It also hasn't got bluetuth or USB conectivity like other phones.
I've got the Nokia 6620 from Cingular and it works fine for me. However, if you update the talks software, get 2.0 because it works the best.
hi.
I would advise you to think of some other models. the ones you mentioned are now obsolete. I think you are in the UK, if so you can contact the RNIB as they are dealers for talks.
let me know if you need more help.
Okay, thank you for letting me know which phones are not in use and don't work properly. I will do that phone the RNIB.
i'd never buy the 9210, it's a brick and i've seen it. i had the 6600 and it works fine. and yes, it did have blue tooth but not u s b. my fiance has the 6630 and he seems to get along with it just fine. for me, it's the n70 all the way just because of the keypad and style of the phone. there is a website in the u k that does deal with talks and the address is www.comproom.co.uk i sent mine there to have the talks installed.
any one got the crack for the new talk software? I'd love you forever if you could hook me up? lol
If I was you, I would not be asking for that out on here. haha!
hi, if you are just interested on calling and texting, nokia e50 might serve you best. it have a good quality of text to speech software on it. you can easily browse your phone book, text messages, miss calls etc, and you can use it without any aditional software.
if you are thinking of getting a phone with talks, its worth to think on nokia 6600 series. although its not the latest, but it serve better than some of the newesr such as n70 and n73. and the good deal with 6600 series is, their come with handy keypat which is very important.
yeah. talks rocks.
o shit rite, that prob wasn't such a good idea but does anyone know if you could get *any* sort of talks for nukea 6085
My phone has buttons that are easy to find because they are far apart. It can send text messages and read numbers and everything in the phonebook and menues and everythin that would normally be on the screen. The only thing it doesn't do, is connect to a usb thing or take pictures or bluetooth, or whatever it's called, but I don't really care about any of that.
So any of these phones are they hearing aid compatible?
The LG 5300 from Verizon and later work very well with hearing aids, and are compatible for the T c coil.
The talks phones that were available as of March 2007 did not work with hearing aids. I checked with Nokia. I'm also looking for a flip phone.
Any thoughts on newer moddle phones?
Thanks
John
